Railroad named tobacco? Don't recall ever having seen that in my years of collecting.

That was something I didn't know about either and thus had to capture that on film for future knowledge...

    1999: Alaska Railroad

Time to head onto the next chapter of RRAdventures...

In July 1999, Lisa and I took a Lad/Sea Tour of Alaska and part of that trip we took a daytime ride on the back of the Alaska Railroad

    1999: Alaska Railroad

As we travel on our bus I will catch our first glimpse of the Alaska Railroad (ARR) and take a couple of shots out the window

Looks like the day started out damp and dreary. Could only be Alaska in mid-summer.

Can you tell how far back our car is from the front of the train. You might also notice that this is basically three trains in one...

OK, I'm curious. What is actually happening with three in one?

What you are seeing is the normal Alaska Railroad cars way ahead. The next set is the Holland American Cruise Lines private cars. Lastly our Princesses Cruise Lines private cars bring up the rear...

You know, with us being in the last car of this long consist I don't think I ever got a shot of the engines but when I get the video put together maybe that will get found. I believe it might have been a pair of GP40's...

LOL - No worries and I will be using this topic to go back and get those videos I took long ago online. This was the first trip I took with a video camera so it will be coming towards the end of this chapter...
