Hi All, Here is a collection of some of the hints that have been posted. Based on the hints as I see it the car is built in the 1950s could have been in Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, or Montana could also have been in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, and again Massachusetts is a box car belonged to a railroad this a fallen flag, possible two fallen flags is a prototype has trucks with some type of non friction bearing (hopefully the correct term) and two axes What ever it is I'll make mine welcome on my layout. I was hoping that it would have an "X" as the last letter in the reporting marks as in TBX****. Gary
I brewed up another great hint but I am afraid that it may go too far, so here's one that means nothing: We also know that at one point, one of the cars was seen in a state where Okies fled to. But, it was off it's route.
All right, judging from the PMs and e-mails you folks are sending, I will throw some bones with meat on them. I'm going to provide a list of railroads that were either connected to, or crossed, our road's tracks. First...
Would love to help out somehow. No ping pong balls though. Would have to go buy a pack or two first! A slip of paper in a jar? PM with info, if there's some way I can help! Thanks.
Considering the rough shape of the economy right now, the order count is very encouraging. I agree that there will be some sales from outside TB to a small percentage of NSC/NSE members, although I think that it will be a lower percentage than it might have been previously given "Special Run Overload". I suppose I could research and determine the identity of the car-- there's probably enough hints now-- but I'm not going to spill the beans! Besides, I'm deep into writing the October UMTRR...
Okay I'm going out on a limb here. Using The previous hints I listed The last two hints posed by E-8 Some research on the net E-8's signature I think that the states are Missouri for the "M______________" state Arkansas and Kansas for the "___________S" state This is where I'm about to cut off the limb I'm standing on I believe the railroad in question is the XXXXXX. Gary PS I love this game.
Maybe one of the lines rolled into the Missouri Pacific then into UP... X&EX - Meets most requirements based on the hints. Whoops there are plenty of boxcars from that road on the market and the very first post said that there werent any known N scale boxcars for the road chosen.
I've ordered mine! I don't really care what road it is, TB has been good to me so I'll do in kind! Thanks, guys!
Yes - definitely no road with that name - so I'm in too! Thanks to TB, and everyone who contributes here too, for keeping me informed from over the pond. Peter Peter Harris N Scale Kits www.nscalekits.com
Feel free to private message me if you don't want to post your guess here. I'll post another hint in a while and updated totals. I got hung up at work today so I've not been able to keep up. I'll be free within a couple of hours to give you another hint. Charlie
My order is sent. I haven't been a TrainBoard member for very long, and this is the first time I've ever posted here. The special runs are a fantastic idea for funding a community like this, and I want to show my support even though I'm not (yet) a very active user. I don't model a North American prototype, or even in N scale, so for me this model will sit on the shelf and serve as a reminder of the dedication and creativity shown by the people behind this community. I hope it will be the first of many successful special runs. Regards, Jostein
