I worked on the second module - it's nearly finished:

The mobile home here is a 3D-print.

Very nice, reminds me of the mobile home along the SP north of Tucson I lived in during the mid 80's.

Extremely impressive modelling. I'm about to start my own switching layout and looking at your level of detail has been inspiring. Thank you for sharing your work and please update your thread as you continue.

Earlier in this thread I showed you a first picture of the second module - only straight track with a grade crossing to come. Now I can present you the finished module:

On one side of the tracks is a 3D-printed mobile home shown earlier already, on the other side is a scratch built italian restaurant. The grade crossing has working lights and sound.

Once again, great work! I don't see where anyone has asked about the actual track plan you're using over the length of your modules. Is your goal to just have the modules available to set up and operate as a switching module or are you making them to some sort of standard to be a part of a larger layout?

This is the track plan of the first module:

The second module is only track straight through.

There are more modules planned, the next two are already started. In the near future I will add two "end modules" in order to use "Industry Ave" in FREMO-layouts.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. Now more information about the concecpt.

I posted the trackplan of the first module already - it looks like:

It's neat, but you cannot do a lot of switching here. So a small extension board is added to the right:

That's already a lot better: The middle track of the extension board can be used as a minimal staging yard, the lower track as a lead to serve the team track. The cold storage is a little bit isolated (to keep it cool :) and cannot served reasonable.

A lot of fun is added with the second module also shown above; there is no rail served industry - "only" a grade crossing:

You have to use horn and bell, slow down, switch on and off the crossing signal, don't block the street longer as necessary and so on. But it's getting better and better:

Now the cold storage can easily be reached and rail served - and another industry was added also, but for the moment with the same fate as the cold storage formerly - not really reachable. And you may notice that the grade crossing was rotated by 180 degrees and so new views are presented.

But this is still not the end:

Now the new industry Spices Inc. is rail served, but the cold storage is again in its former state. But not for long, the next module will follow soon!

I think you got the concept: The modules are easily arrangeable in different ways and this way this industrial area looks different every time and the moves to switch the industries are always a new challenge.
