    The LifeLike split frame E8's run super smooth, and will pull the paint off the walls. They are a bear to put DCC in because there is zero empty space under the shell. I have an ABBA set that I have not been able to stop. They will break couplers in a train rather than slip.

    The Life Like units have an absurd coupling distance between them. Even with MT couplers.

    Actually worse with MT couplers. Easy to cure with Red Caboose couplers.

    Do you have a part number for the Red Caboose couplers? And yes it is much worse!

    Short Shank Unimates are 51000, Mediums are 51010, and Longs are 51020.

    DSCF0652.jpg If you have A-B or A-A units that you always run together, try the following: Take two old rapido couplers and cut off the “hook arms” (on each) to the left of the toothpick in the attached photo. Then glue the two resulting coupler flat surfaces together to form a yoke that you can install in the coupler boxes of your two units. You’re A-B or A-A lash-up will look great running at near prototype separation on your layout:
