I thought I posted this already but I guess not:

Is Gerard Huet of Huet-Trains still in business? I have something on order (no payment made so no concern) but haven't heard from him in some time despite several e-mails.

This isn't a bash as I have one of his models and am very pleased with it and his service so call it concern for him and any potential for future models.

    Any insight would be welcome!

    Hi
He had updated his web site on October 20 about not taking Visa anymore has a payment method.
his web page is still active http://proto87.team.pagesperso-orange.fr/index2.html
    his email is protoscale@wanadoo.fr
But It's not the first time that I've heard he is not replying to emails nor to his clients. His loco's are tempting, but the infinite lead time with no follow up is a show stopper. That's the reason why I refuse to take orders or money before products are at least available. call it basic integrity.

    Ben

    Thanks Ben!

This is a wierd situation, I have had nothing but good communication with him. I put in an order which he confirmed and all that remained was decals he was waiting for. That was almost two months ago and I have heard nothing since.

I tried an email to the address you furnished. We we see what happens.

He will email you when the decals are ready. It took four months before he email me.

Huet do not understood how to treat the people with respect. I agree with Ben. He lack integrity. What good is talent if you treat your customer with poor communication. It would only take seconds to let a customer know you have not forget them. When you let four month go by and make someone wonder about their order it is wrong. Huet has been doing this for years. I not want to be disrespectful. But search Train Board and you will see very many posts about Huet and his poor service. No integrity and no respect for customer. Hal and I refuse to do business with him.

Gentlemen, please understand many people do 'business' and also live lives, sometimes that are not in their control (family, work, etc.). Sometimes, unexpected glitches occur during these custom parts. Culture can play a part too, where one may not communicate because they have no (new) answer. I deal with business around the world and find many common traits amongst them. Most I understand, many I respect. Some I have no choice (sole source, for example) and others my biz is just a drop in their bucket and sometimes we get set aside for a bit.

Caveat emptor. If you dont like his business practices, please just don't do business with him.

    Excellent advice.

We do not need to drift into the type of open mud slinging I see in Post #5. Not here on TrainBoard.
