Just wanted to share that I found some cheap acrylic paint at Walmart. Apple Barrel costs about 57 cents for a 2-ounce container. Folk Art costs about 97 cents for the same size container. They seem to be different lines by the same company, Plaid. Has anyone used these? So far, they work great for painting earth tones on homasote and painting flextrack ties. I'll be experimenting with some plastic structures next.
I do. I also use Cream Coat. All work fine. I wouldn't thin them too much for brushing. I would use water for thinning. If you thin them with Liquitex acrylic airbrush medium you can spray them too. I wouldn't thin them for spraying with anything else - water, alcohol, wiper fluid etc, but that is a whole separate other thread. Steve
Thanks ratled. This may be old hat to some, but I've discovered it's best to put some of the paint in a container and then thin it gradually with water to find the right consistency. Starting with water first and then adding the paint produces thin, watery pigment.
I pick up artist acrylic paints at AC Moore and Michaels. Quite a selection of colors for RR modeling. Last time I was there they were 2 for $1 and at times they go for 3 for $1. I only use them for scenery work.
