Hi folks, and Happy Holidays to you all!

I am happy to report Santa (in the guise of my wife) has given me a new AZL GP38-2.

Regretfully I can't get it to budge. Power is flowing to the Marklin track I tested it on, as other locos run fine.

Any tips from folks out there in Trainboard land? This is my first AZL loco so I'm guessing there may be some secret learning.

Thanks to the nice folks at Zscale Monster for rushing it to us.

Best to you all, and thank you for your feedback.

UPDATE - On RobK's advice, I pulled the shell off, pushed the circuit board forward, and it's now pottering along smoothly on the track, light on, no worries. I'll warm it up a bit and then put the shell back on.

The room-full of little kids all hollering "we want to see the train" is very happy.

    Thanks Rob!

Glad you got it running. Keep us posted as to how it remains.
I just got my first also and happens to be the same model UP version but the same. Haven't put it on the track or tested the track for that matter as yet

Bob, excellent! I am glad I caught your email. We had 30 family members here for Christmas. Yikes!

Just in case this happens with anyone else, I advised Bob to remove the shell and make sure the board is seated firmly on the chassis. Just push the PCB forward into the slots and test run. This can happen with both the GP30s and GP38s. But the issue is much rarer since AZL redesigned their boards from the first run of GP30s.

It is also possible the shell may come down too far on the chassis and cause the trucks to bind slightly, but in this case, it sounded like the board slipped a little not a binding issue.

30! Fantastic. :D I hope your x-mas was great. Mine was. My Gp 38 in Milwakee Rd found a home on my roundy in the display case. I do think that the AZL runs a tad slower than the GP 30 or the GP 7 using the snail speed controller. But that is a good thing! Merry Christmas.

Ok Rob, tell us the truth. After 30 family members, do you require therapy or just a couple of hours running trains to unwind and get centered again?

Did you run trains for the family?
