    hello..
I have been adding more track and turnouts to my layout. I have a Power Cab system and my Tortoise turnouts are running through a switch 8 decoder from NCE. I have 4 turnouts installed and have worked for almost 18 months with no problems.
I added a turnout today and wired it into my 5th spot on the switch 8 decoder. I turned the power cab on accessed the accessory using 005 for the turnout hit the 1 button and nothing. It appears it is not being addressed for some reason. I check the 4 I have installed and they all work. I use the blue connector for the tortoise switch machine for wiring. I unplugged one from one of the switches I had working to make sure I had plugged the new one in correctly and I had wired it correct and plugged it in correct on the new switch I added.
Restarted the power cab and now the switch I added does not work still but the switch I took the connector off does not work either. The other 3 I left connected still work fine.
Thinking I might have done something to the switch machines I took a brand new switch from a box and used the plug in connector from the switch that used to work but nothing..Again it seems as if no power is going to the switch or the power cab is not addressing it for some reason.

Any ideas or anyone had something similar happen to them?

    Thanks for help and advice.

I don't have the answer to your question, but I have a suggestion.

Join the NCE-DCC group on Yahoo:
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NCE-DCC/

It is a fantastic group with plenty of expertise on all aspects of NCE products. You'll get the help you need.

I did that just now :) Problem solved..As my wife would point out they make instructions for a purpose. I forgot to program the switch to the switch 8 decoder and I am guessing when I removed the connector on the one switch that worked it again needed to be reprogrammed. Both work fine now.

For the future, keep the little jumper near the unit. I had my switch-8 deprogram itself a couple times.
