Would anyone happen to know where there are any SP Bloody Nose scheme engines by Kato? I really need some Dash 9's in SP. Also, ATSF, SP, and UP SD45 "where to buy" info would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. For reference, I just nabbed a UP SD45 for roughly 50 bucks including shipping. It's got some run time but looks new. Then there was the decoder equipped SP SD45 with some details added that I got last year for around 60. Hmm. then there was the custom SP Kodachrome SD40 that ended at $43 which I magically scored. Kato GP50 custom painted cotton belt for $43 too....... Ebay is great. So great, I'm turining into a loco collector, not a modeler. Now I'm about to cut myself off for a while.
My understanding is that the SP Dash-9 units are very rare now. I have seen a dealer at Texas Train shows that has one that has been run, and the coupler dangles a bit. He wants $95 and won't come down.
Four SD45's,three -9's plus one brass -9,two SD40's & whatever you do STAY AWAY from these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=486&item=5949052470&rd=1
BLW has some Kato painted, renumbered SD45's for both UP and SP available at the following link: http://www.blwnscale.com/Legacy%20SD-45.htm
Steve, I have two SP Dash 9s I could part with. (Also BNSF, and SF). If interested contact me offline. Jerry Geisert
Steve, I can check a LHS for some sd45's, in speed and roman. I know you said Kato, but why not get some Tunnel Motors for you fleet, or do you already have them?
I'm hoping to get some Tunnel Motors in the future. Six to be exact. However, I need some classic power too. Thank you guys fo finding this cool stuff.
I have about 3 rotary swithes to buy along with a couple of autoreverse loop machanisms. After that and my Birthday arrives I can buy some engines. Hold some of those engines as I will need them in the future after extension of layout.
Found 3 Kato SD45 units at the train shop in Rochelle, IL. Two are now home. They have Rapido couplers. The point is, you never know where you'll find stuff, train shows can be a good source. Speed lettering. Kato apparently only did the first run of the SD40 a few months ago, got a pair in ATSF, no SP, but UP was done. I have too much UP already, FA1/FB1, SD7, SD60M, PA/PB. Atlas did SD35, Bloody Nose, new couplers, numbered, un-numbered, and over a year ago, did SD50, Nose, Speed lettering. The SD50 units look like *real* locos, the SD45, close, the SD35 are okay, but no cigar. Found a Atlas GP9TT, way too light, noisy. I'm more into black widow, Kato did not do F7A/B in that, just Bloody Nose. I'm still bugged that I missed the Trainmaster release, they sold out in reservations, there was a Nose version. As a kid, a FA1 or FA2 stood in for the F7A/B units I really wanted, 35 years ago, FA2 did the same, the NYC FA2/FB2 still stands in, Lightning Stripe works, SP never had any FA1/FA2 units. RS-2 in NYC serves as the ATSF or SP unit I never found.
I believe that kato did the first SD40s about 15 years ago. In fact, the first runs were before the speed lettering. Here is the spookshow: http://www.visi.com/~spookshow/sd40.html
3 SD45's at a LHS? I hope you didn't pay 2 arms and a leg for them.... What a score! Of course, I'd paint them D&RGW...
Kato did do a Black widow A/B,think was the first run,but not sure if it was F3 or F7's?I have been hounding a freind to sell his to me for years, been so long that I cant remember if F3's or7's...........
