Back when I did HOn3 I think that sometimes we would use the 'OLD TIME' cars by Roundhouse for cheap cars. I think all we did was change the trucks and couplers, but I'm not real sure. The Old Time 34' Overton cars will work well for passanger cars too. They will need to be narrowed a bit though. Someone also used to make fairly inexpensive wood freight car kits ( Tomalco? ) .If you can find one,MDC made a 2-8-0 kit that that is pretty easy to assemble also. ....Mike

As far as HOn3 track is concerned, which is the most common for parts/availability? code 55 or 70? The track has some damage and i'm considering replacing it all.

Back then I used Shinohara code 70, but I don't think its available anymore. (I may be wrong) .... I think Micro Engineering Makes both switches and flex track in code 55. I am guessing you probably have Shinohara code 70 now . I found a FAQ page here that may be of some use also http://hon3annual.com/extras/hon3_extras_faq.php .....Mike
