I saw this car today at a train show and HAD to have it. I love the weathering and grafitti. It doesn't hurt that I like small covered hoppers too. Even better, it was only $10.00! So lets see some pictures, what is your favorite piece of rolling stock?
looks great, and for only $10 I would say you did well. The railroader in me is comeing out though, there no reporting marks/numbers on that side so set her out to the rip track and let the carman slap some numbers on her. Kevin
I love it. Add those numbers and you have a perfect car. Most of what I buy these days is those pre weathered MT cars or similar. Got too many new, shiny ones and if you model post 2000, you need up to 30% or more of those freight cars decimated by grafitti too.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I don't mind ugly ducklings, but not my cup of tea. Enjoy though if you like it. Charlie
Here is one. The "Smiley Face" Railroad. No wait, that's a circle logo with a silhouette of the Alamo inside.
"Street Art", PC gone way to far!!!! Thugs and punks, I deal with them enough in the real world I don't want to be reminded of them on my layout.
It is a very nice car, but I can also do without the graffiti. I see enough of the cowardly gang BS in my area. I have about 30 of those hoppers and they can't all be new !!! Really like the effect, especially for the price !!! OH !!! And r-i-straw, that looks like a Hitler smiley face !!! Ha,ha,ha !!!
I think it looks good too!! p.s. I'm the vandal that defaced the hopper. I am backdating my layout and equipment to late 50's early 60's
R.I., was the San Antonio Pacific a real RR at one time, or is that a personal creation? I like the lettering.
That is Flash Blackman's home road. He designed the logo and had it printed by a custom decal maker. When I visited his layout once, I gave him one of my home road box cars and he gave me that one.
I absolutely cringe when I see a new looking car roll by on the rails, with some Bloods art on it, or maybe Joanie loves Chachi written on it. Nevertheless, my locos and rolling stock are always clean
