I mentioned this earlier in the Gulf and Western, Operations Night, thread. With permission from Greg's wife I can share the following. A member of the Bear Valley Model Railroaders, also a member of the local HAM radio operators, Greg, collapsed Tuesday, while we were together grabbing a soda and bite to eat. We managed to get him on the floor and get CPR started. The paramedic's responded in record time and were able to continue the CPR, start I.V.'s and the usual drill. I just heard from his dear wife and the news is nothing but good. Cat scan revealed no stroke, and that he had suffered a massive cardiac incident. Good news is he is responding well to the treatments, no paralysis and was able to help move himself. Still not out of the clear as his condition is considered to be critical and guarded. His wife Linda, wants to thank all for the prayers. Asking that for now there be no visitors and not to call her on her cell phone. I did let her know of the well wishes and thoughts shared here and she was very appreciative. Thanks for the read.
Thanks for the info, and all the best to Greg and his family. And thanks to you guys as well. You were prepared, you knew what to do and you took immediate action.
Done Rick, He and his family are in my prayers. Glad to hear he is doing better. More prayers that he keeps getting stronger.
Thanks for the update, Rick. Soon he'll be back to our Operations Night, "guarding the door"..... John
You won't believe this. I just heard from Greg. He said to say "Hi to the gang and you saved my ass". Music to my ears. He's going to be in ICU and Recovery for a while but unless I miss my guess we are over the worst of the hump. Dam it was good to hear from him.
That's great to hear. Obviously he received the clot dissolving meds within that magic first hour. They still work within 3 hours, but with a higher risk of damage.
Actually, I say somewhat cringing and wondering just how much I should say. No, not really. Locally, there was several things that just didn't fit medical protocol. He was fortunate to be air lifted to the Loma Linda University Hospital. Just to long a story to tell and there are privacy issues I need to respect. However, yesterday (almost two months to the day) he was able to walk back into the fast food joint where his heart stopped AND walked out on his own two feet. I said with a big reassuring GRIN! :teeth: Modern medicine and quick thinking....evidence of. Just thought you might want to know. He would tell you, Thanks for thinking of him.
Fathers Day 2:30 PM June 16, 2002 I had my first heart attack . For your friend and myself and All other survivors , today is special indeed .
