I want to install LED lights in my engines so I can remove the shell and separate it from the chassis and motor. I anticipate using small wire connectors on the blue/white/yellow wires. I will just disconnect them when I remove the shell for detailing or painting. Can anyone recommend some type of small connector for this purpose? Thanks for the help.
Try these guys::: http://www.tcsdcc.com/public_html/C...s/Supplies/Connectors/QuickPlugConnectors.htm
Thanks. I think knowing that it is called a header connector helps. The model rr DCC industry sell them. I will post my findings.
Flash, Try these. You can cut them apart in ones or twos. http://www.ebay.com/itm/221186042943?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 I cut them in twos and use heat shrink for insulation. I also alternate to which end (male or female) I solder the LED wires so headlights and reverse lights can't be plugged into the wrong connectors coming from the decoder. I use a razor saw in a miter box for an even cut.
The connectors that EMD E9 shows are quite large. Pin spacing is .100 on centers. This connector is much smaller. http://www.litchfieldstation.com/xcart/product.php?productid=999003204&cat=256&page=1
Good idea. These appear to be the type my friend showed me. I tried to find these again in San Antonio but couldn't locate them.
woodone: I saw those. I am afraid those are so small I couldn't solder them. They probably are better for a small place.
Yes, they do require a steady hand when soldering the wires to them. Try finding this for you larger ones. Maybe Radio Shack? They should look like this. http://www.litchfieldstation.com/xcart/product.php?productid=410061&cat=174&page=1 Cut off two at a time?
