Did you think I forgot? Well you would be partially correct. I left early this morning to look at another Jeep, cause two are not enough. Regardless of my Jeep fetish, it's time for Weekend Modeling Plans!

For me, we are all crossing our fingers for a no rain weekend. Jared has soccer this weekend but only three, maybe four games. I started my modeling weekend early last night by getting two locomotives ready for the annual Galesburg RR Days. If you watch the news, you may have seen the flooding Galesburg received earlier in the week. In fact, the footage they showed was Carl Sandburg College, and guess where the model train show is, was, is? Yes, you guessed it. On Tuesday, I was finishing up a project to get two of the Galesburg projects into the shop and by Wednesday I received word that the show was to be cancelled only to hear it was on again yesterday afternoon. That's good since Galesburg RR Days continues to be my favorite train show in the midwest. Two Kato SD70 ACe's are in the shop, with one being carefully disassembled and the shells have been soaking in 91% alcohol. Hopefully they will see paint by weekend's end.

So how about you? What do you plan on doing for your modeling weekend? Whatever you may do or wherever you may go, let us know. We'll come back here on Monday, June 3rd and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

I was wondering if WMP/WMA was going to take the summer off, like many modelers do. But, jeeps are important, too, especially railfan jeeps, so you are forgiven.

It will be hot here in Massachusetts. I hope to get out early enough for a bike ride before it gets too warm, but I expect to spend most of the weekend modeling. The carfloat base took longer to seal than I thought it would, but now it's ready for the Envirotex pours.

Watching Envirotex dry is worse than paint, because it takes 24 hours per pour. But, yesterday I opened up the box for the Empire Leather Tanning Company kit. The box is about 2 feet by 18 inches by 8 inches, so you can imagine the number of parts inside. Walthers even put 4 separate parts bags inside. This makes 4 complete buildings plus a water tower, and there is an assortment of rooftop thingys, horizontal and vertical tanks and other details. I had expected to find a bunch of rectangular walls, but the whole box is full of modular parts, so each wall is made up of multiple parts. This will give me the flexibility to put the loading dock doors in different locations on the structure, which should help in placing the buildings relative to roads and rails, but it means one more thing to plan out before assembly. It's time for cardstock mock-ups of each building...

I've been away for a few years. I'm not exactly back per se, but I'm trying to clean up my workspace and that means finishing some of the projects cluttering it up. With that in mind I have some plaster rocks drying in preparation for a photo diorama, and am planning out a way to finally get the ditch lights in an Athearn F59PHI working so it can stop living on the workbench.

What a great weekend so far! Yesterday I received my NCE PowerCab and set it up and today I received my PSX-AR reverse module and set it up. Everything is working flawlessly. I bought the recommended Radio Shack box to enclose the reverse module. When I get a fascia installed the wiring will be hidden and I'll move the NCE panel to the fascia. Here's a few pics.

I don't know about the "recommended" Radio Shack box mounting. With the box pressed against the foam insulation, there is no ventilation for the electronics. These are not "hot" components, but even so they should have adequate airflow to cool them.

Why thank you. I did not think about that. The factory instructions recommend it and even listed the Radio Shack part# for it. That's what I get for actually following directions. Should I drill some big vent holes in it?

I would mount it upside down so that the components on the board are exposed to the air.

Ok. It came with a lid that screws on completely covering the module inside so I'll remove that and turn it over. That will expose the board. It does have cool little red LEDs that blink when the polarity switches. Thanks for the advice.
