oldrk, I'm not sure this post belongs here. It seems to be a tout for an e-Bay auction. While we allow posts that inform people of e-Bay auctions of some items of special interest, I think this does not meet the requirements of "special interest," so I'm moving it to the Yellow Board forum.
Oops! oldrk meant this in fun, sort of "Why pay $10 for something many railroaders will give you for free?" I've suggested to oldrk that he include a comment in the message to make his intent clearer. We've had some problems with postings concerning e-Bay auctions recently, and further in the past. I might have acted too quickly on this one, and for that I apologize to oldrk. With the increasing activity on the forums, it's hard for moderators to keep up and, sometimes, to discern a fun post from something else. So, I've opened this back up on this forum, with the warning: HAVE FUN!
I am just baffled by who would actually bid on that. We have replacement Atlas trucks hanging on the wall of our shop for those who want to convert knuckle equiped cars back to rapido, I think they sell for $2.25 a set. The shipping on the auction is more than that.
I think you can get Rapido trucks on a used car for less than $2.00 a car. EEEEKKKK indeed! I used to mail, IIRC, 25-50 hi-pro Rapido trucks in a standard business envelope, 37 cents postage, to anyone who asked for them. [ January 10, 2006, 11:45 PM: Message edited by: Pete Nolan ]
I hope the winning bidder doesn't become discouraged with the hobby when they discover what they have done. At least they aren't shelling out hundreds or thousands of dollars for something that isn't really worth as much. An expensive, yet inexpensive lesson to be learned here. I think we all have a story we can relate...............
This is off topic but is there a buy and sell area of this site? If not can anyone point me to a site that has a good buy and sell section?
Hmmm.... You guys might not see me around here for a while. I have several thousand eBay listings to place
Oooh! Oooh! I want to be cheated by some guy on on EBay by paying $10 for some "high quality" trucks! Pick me! Yeah right, this person should at least go buy some Atlas or MT (or DeLuxe, Red Caboose, IM, etc.) trucks before they pass them off as "high quality", probably off some old Bachmann or Model Power, sheesh. I just love this auction for a turnout by the same seller: Ebay Auction
What!!?? Only four? Oh, wait... the snipers haven't hit yet! I can see it now (play Jaws music) as the close approaches, the bidders snapping their knuckles, each determined to be THE ONE! These are, after all, "high quality" trucks!
