The following is a short video (Poorly edited - completely done on my Samsung Galaxy 3 phone with free software) depicting a layout concept using old Tomix brown track and viaduct, Tomix Fine Track and Atlas Code 80.

I even have like three pieces of Kato Unitrak I can throw in there for good measure.

Its hard to see the layout, but I want to put in an oval on a lower level and add a yard. No idea how to decorate... My rolling stock is all over the place - the train running in the video (hard to see as it blazes by at 350 MPH) is a Kato 201-Series Japanese commuter. It runs great. Then I have an Athearn TRE set which runs like CRAP. The F59PHI has no traction to get up the viaduct (nothing a $25 of bullfrog snot can't fix), and the coaches have tight wheels that are always derailing. I can run, generally, the loco and up to two coaches, but can't run all 4 coaches.

Then I have a mixmatch of old UP FA1 FB1, mixed freight, a Japanese steamer, a Pennsylvanian 2-8-0, old overland coaches, modern coaches, Aaaaaaa! This is a result of 30 years of collecting and never having a plan. :D

Wow. Blazes past for certain. How does it stay on the tracks?

It does pretty well. The curves range from 11 to 19" radius.
