Does anyone know if someone is making loads for the center beam car from AZL. would love a set but they are kinda plain empty.
I may still have some truss loads that we had offered for Robert Ray's centerbeams. I will check stock. I have been planning an article in Ztrack on how to create loads for the centerbeams. These would be the paper wrapped loads. My goal is to include the loads as print outs that you can assemble and add to the car. I need to photograph loads on these cars so I can create the art. If any one has some good photos of the paper wrapped loads that you would like to share, please send them my way. I can use them! Rob
Thanks Rob that would be great. I'll see what I can find as far as pictures go. this may be a good reason to invest in a high def 3d printer
Dave that is what I am looking for! I would love to find photos of the real loads to work from. There is a lumber yard not too far from here that receives loads from Centerbeams. I hope to be able to take a few photos. I need the images to be straight on the side and not angled. I can even work from a small photo of stacked wrapped lumber as we can take it into Photoshop and create the right size to fit the car. Rob
http://www.hobbysmith.com/loads.html This store seems to have some Z loads for centerbeams, but I have no personal experience or affiliation with them, just came up in a Google search.
Lots of how-to in the internet, mostly N scale, but easy to apply to Z, even for "unskilled" modeller. Here an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdSYjdaUg8g
Thanks for all the reply's. Thanks for the link KEZ looks like a good source for bare lumber loads and Gerd that video was awesome looks very easy I'm guessing that is what Rob is talking about in his post. I'm going to try and shrink down the N scale print outs
Karin at Stone Bridge Models was making some of the Anderson-type Trusses. They are not on the sigth right now but these may be what Ztrack was selling too. http://www.stonebridgemodels.com/index.htm
Hey check out this article complete with Z scale print outs starting at pg 55 http://issuu.com/mr-hobbyist/docs/mrh11-07-jul-2011-ol?viewMode=presentation&mode=embed
Someone with hobby time should make individual wrapped lumber loads. They are more time consuming to do, taking about an hour to wrap enough for 1 car, but the results are worth it I think:
Robert that lumber yard of yours looks fantastic. Have you ever thought of submitting that or your other work to model RR?
Nice work Rob, must be the best mill scene around. Much better looking than a radio in a car!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really wish somebody would make loads - quite frankly, I would have done it, but it would have added tons of development time to the cars and decided to work on other things at the time (Mikados) My plan was paper loads wrapped around Balsa wood with a tiny rare earth magnet in the bottom to keep them in place (Drill hole in bottom of balsa, glue in place, wrap in paper)
I talked to Mac (owner of Details-N-Scale http://www.detailsnscale.com/z_lumber_loads.htm) yesterday and he has plans to introduce lumber loads for the AZL centerbeams in the next month or so. The loads will be similar to the loads he produces for HO and N. He is in the process of up dating his website to include these items. You may order these loads from Hobby Smith or directly from Details-N-Scale. Jerry Hobby Smith (part time helper ;o)
