    All,
I've started my quarterly train shop crawl across California and at one stop I was told that MTL had declined to accept their track order and that MTL was getting out of the track business. Can anyone confirm or refute this info? I'm wondering if I should make an end of life buy or possibly start selling what I do have at outragous prices on the bay.

    Mark,
Am I correctly assuming you are referring to the sectional track? Whether or not, as a dealer for MTL I have heard nothing regarding MTL quitting their track program, be it sectional or flex.

I have heard that on occasion, any account that is not current with payments is declined their next order shipment until their bill is caught up. This may or may not be the case with that business.

Since you brought it up, what is going on with micro trains track, I can't remember when they released any new track, or for that matter a new body style or even the E8 etc.

    Loren,
Yes, I meant the sectional. I would expect the payments process. But in this case they accepted the rest of the order: basically all the September releases. The shop also felt so certain of it, they have started stocking Rokuhan track. Well Walthers claims to have a number of different sections due to arrive 9/3. Let's see what happens.

That would be a shame. I have already collected a sizable amount of MTL track. I understand that the options are limited, but it looks more like real US track to me. The frogs and switch points are more realistic.

However I don't understand why a manufacturer would discontinue a successful line that is in demand, unless someone else bought their molds. Perhaps it's a bit too early to speculate here.

I would hate to see the track go as well and would still encourage them to work on a couple more sections. My understanding from a couple years back is that they contact out its manufacture and haven't had good success with their vendors.
