Hello,
Is there anyone out there that has one of these S-2s. Due to a lack of info, anywhere, it's as though this model never existed.
I have been trying to find info on it. One item would be, what is the exact BLI Operators Manual issued with it. Any other info is welcome.
Thanks

They were offered as much as eight years ago, and appeared in BLI's glossy annual calendar. I suspect those who wanted such a beast already had them in expensive brass, and that the initial bites were very low. I'm not even sure it hasn't been cancelled by now; pretty sure it was cancelled two years ago. It never came close to being worth all the cost of tooling and bringing it to market.

Hello Crandell,
It was the brass model I was asking about. After the initial run, they were not continued.
I think the one you are writing about was the announcement in 2006 of the ABS version, which was never done. And the tooling would have already been accomplished. But, it apparently has not been cancelled , as it can still be reserved on a number of internet sites.
As far as the delay, it must be remembered that BLI is closely aligned with the Pennsy, which has many adherents, ergo much sale potential.
The Great Northern is a popular road and has many followers. It is doubtful that the model will be produced, in the near future, as I'm sure the manufacturers are spending their money on proven sellers, and reruns.

Petey, before I answered you yesterday, I went on BLI's site and looked up what they offer currently under "Products". I couldn't find that locomotive. It doesn't even appear in their 'cancelled projects'. Perhaps someone else who knows more than I will chime in before too long.

BLI Brass Great Northern S2

I own a BLI Brass Great Northern S2. They were made in very limited quantities. I think BOO-RIM was the builder, but I do not have any confirmation of this. It is a beautiful engine. Very detailed. Runs smooooooooooth with great sound.

BLI Museum Series Brass GN S-2

Additional info: BLI Catalog #1050 from their Museum Series. MSRP was $1699.99 for the loco that I own. Here is the link to BLI's discontinued items:

Scroll down and you will find the brass Great Northern S-2. This is not a hybrid brass loco-it is truly brass made in Korea.

Hello Vinny,
You are the first person that has responded as an owner of this model, in a year of asking. Do you have a copy of BLI's Operator's Manual for the engine. I cannot make a decision on the appropriate manual because I don't know enough about its features. There appear to be only two that it could be. One book for a reed switch and one for a potentiometer. I cannot get info from BLI or Quantum.
Would you list the features, e g, are the numberboards lighted, how is the factory reset accomplished, cab light, tender lights, etc.
I really appreciate your response.

I will get back to you shortly on the information that you have requested. The engine is nice. I think it was bulit by BOO-RIM.

BLI Brass Museum Series GN S-2

Hi Petey,
The manual is the basic manual that comes with BLI Steam locomotives. The manual utilizes the Reed Switch for sound level and resetting the engine back to factory defaults. To set sound levels and reset the engine their is a wand that you wave over the reed switch. The engine comes with a maintenance sheet specifically for the GN S-2 Brass locomotive. As I stated in an earlier post this is truly a brass loco that rivals the Precision Scale GN S-1 that came out a few months ago. It was built in Korea and is very detailed and runs very smooooooth. I think it was built by BOO-RIM, but I have zero proof of that. The loco runs on DC and DCC with sound. It has a front light, tender light and a cab light, but does not have numberboard lights. It is very heavy and it is just a "Work of Art". This is not a hybrid locomotive. I have never seen this brass engine in a BLI catalog. Hope this info. helps.
