Not Z scale but I thought I'd show everyone anyway... My 8 year old nephew Joe had to do a homework project with the subject being water. After deciding against doing the Titanic (thank goodness!) he decided he'd like to do waterfalls. I got him to do some research and make some notes and draw some pictures, then we made a model together. It's just some foam with sculptamold, painted black and covered with earth and flock. Some decorative pebbles form the riverbed, and I used the WS meltable water and water effects for the actual fall. Could probably do with something to suggest the splash a bit more, but I can't think of anything suitable. My thoughts are that we might be able to incorporate the fall into the On30 layout we are slowly building. This was started to deflect the boys attention away from my Z scale trains when they visit
Some carefully applied white paint will give the impression of splashing water. But go easy on it. This looks real nice Phil.
Turned out very nice. It is good to see your nephew do some research first before jumping in. It isn't easy these days to get kids to research, good job teaching him!
Thanks guys! Loren, I will try the white paint idea. Yes, I have learned from previous experience with a Roman shield and a cardboard model of a lizard, that the reading and writing part of the project needs to be done before the hands-on "fun" part, or it can be hard work afterwards!
