I had a fun time at the train show in Oklahoma City last weekend. Here are a few shots from that event.
Here are some cars that I finished this week! IMRC 40' Boxcar kit, substituted A-Line sill steps for the kit steps, painted with a mixture of Floquil Dark Blue and Light Blue and lettered with Microscale decals. IMRC 50' Boxcar kit, substituted a 10' YSD from the scrapbox and A-Line sill steps for the kit supplied items. Painted with Scalecoat II IC Orange and lettered with Herald King Decals. Part 1 of my new Christmas train... the Glover's Bend Christmas Tree sitting in Nolan Yard waiting for the crew to adjust the rigging before delivering the tree to the town square. Man I've got to get my background up. Christmas tree by BGTwinDad, on Flickr It's a 50' Woodland Scenics pine tree secured to an Intermountain 60' flat. Part 2 is the FVM 2013 Christmas Canstock boxcar, which should be arriving today or tomorrow... but I can't take much credit for that one
LOL! That's Chris Pine on the "Unstoppable" movie poster. Next to it is an aluminized print of an old B&O promo poster. My White Pass & Yukon Route "badge" still needs to get placed.
So lets talk Christmas trains, shall we? Thisis a project ive been doing on again off again for a while, and its finally operable. I wanna put a bell on it, and id love to get a cheep sound dcoder of a bell ringing preferably of the steam locomotive variety. But thats down the road. I made the Salvation army decals on Testors whiye bck decal paper a while ago, the caboose is Athearn. And yes, it is weighted down by actual change. Not new for Model Railroaders to use change for that, but seemed fitting. Santa may rely on ol Rudy for fog, but snow? Well, Thisis an Athearn 1998 christmas rotary. Its riding on the chassis of the 2008? Motorized plow now though, and i painted a Roundhouse tender white and put some numbers on it. The f unit behind is athean, and he Hudson is a Franklin Mint
Get your stinking steer out of the way or I will run him down. Opps, he got his hoof stuck in the cattle guard. I looked all over for beef cattle at the train show and only found the Bachmann set with all the dairy cows. So I kit bashed them into regulation long horns.
The kid who was running it was going a little too fast. He backed up to collect his train and did not stop soon enough.
Woodland Scenics has a Black Angus set. Just saw 'em at the hobby shop the other day. Your kitbashed cattle look pretty good, though!
Just finished the yard expansion at Hannah Vista, with a new switch lead, A/D tracks, runaround, and caboose tracks. John http://
Awesome! Salute! I think I know when that picture was taken and it turned out superb. Shows off the double slip switch nicely. Keep bringing it back here to TB.
Nice scene. The interior light of that observation car looks appealing. A few RR bigwigs having some evening cocktails?
John, looking good. The tall structure in the back ground looks a bit like Consolidated Wheel in Colton. At least the top of it does.
If you missed the Open House Layout Tour, back in October 2013. you missed a real opportunity to see John's layout. My layout not so much but John A's, is worth the trip to see it. He is a first class model railroader. So we keep the John's straight, John P. has a layout worthy of a visit and it's not as far to go to see it. His is simplistic, easy to operate but I warn you to be sure and take a cold drink with you. That garage, just like my shed can get hot in the good old summer time. Both are class act's.
