Does anyone have a AZL snow plow they would sell/trade? I have a SD70 missing the snow plow. Thank you.
Yes, but snowplows mostly are not an option on recent locomotives, even for export. Look at EMD or GE locos sold in Brazil, Venezuela or northwestern Australia, all places where it's very unlikely to find any snow, they are all fitted with snowplows. Dom
Dom, interesting comment and I just had to write to a prospective buyer who lives in Spain regarding shipping. I know nothing about Spain's weather, but I would think they get some of that white stuff on occasion, suppose?
Oftenly flying above Spain, yes, I sometimes see some snow on the peaks and on the central plateau, surrounding the capital, Madrid. But why this question? Dom
Well, we were talking about snow plows and where you find them and my mind just thought of the likelihood of snow in Spain because I really know nothing about Spain's weather patterns. I wasn't sure the customer really needed the missing snow plow on the SD70 I'm selling. I've got a handle on one though. Now you know how geographically ignorant I am.......amongst other ignorant areas.
Ok, I understand. About AZL SD70's, besides the fact that every brand new loco having been sold by EMD or GE around the world for, let's say, 20 years is snowplow-equipped, the problem is that you have no really the choice, due to the absence of pilot in order to accomodate the truck mounted coupler. I always find odd, not to say ugly, to see this wonderful locomotive brand with a gaping "hole" in lieu of the prototype's snowplow, when I open the box of a newly purchased SD70 and the first ever thing I do with it is fitting the matching snowplow, out of the box... For our friend who's lookin for a snowplow, I would recommand to use a MTL SD40-2's sample if he doesn't find a dedicated AZL sample: http://www.zscalemonster.com/mt/970-00-000/ . Dom
