Though I do not personally care for European trains, I have to say "Kudos" to Rokuhan. They are really working hard to keep folks happy. They must have good foresight, vision, and money to boot. I only wish I could say that about a certain unnamed American company.

Maybe we all should send this link to a certain unnamed American company.

Wouldn't it be nice if doing so would ignite a fire under certain rear ends. Alas, just a pipe dream.

BTW, How many folks are going to the Portland GTE in January?

    Loren, Loren,
You need some help with Geography: Japan is in ASIA, not EUROPE. Only because a loco is called DE10 doesn't it mean its German ;)

Good news, more stuff from Rokuhan. BTW: interesting wheel arrangement for the DE10 with C-B

Ok Gerd, I was in error to call it all Euro. I simply meant that if it isn't NA I do not care for it. And that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with other than NA railroads.

I just recall watching US steamers roaring down the mail line from Portland to Eugene while my dad drove South on 99W next to the main line to visit my grandparents. Then to top that off, Dad would take us kids to the transfer table and tracks in Eugene and we would stand beside these big black monsters that were often steamed up and hissing like they wanted to be turned loose on the main line.

I think I was about 10 at the time, probably a bit under 5 feet tall and the drive wheels were way over my head as I recall. There are no pictures to tell me what locos they were, but I was very impressed with them and I guess their image is stuck in my head somewhere. That's how and why I am so biased to NA railroading.

Rokuhan is doing such a great job with track and Japanese prototypes! Are they not interested in NA rolling stock?

    Ron,

I've spoken with Rokuhan a couple of times regarding the possibility of them producing NA locos, rolling stock and track with a more NA-look tie size and spacing. They've said they want to more fully establish their Japanese models before looking to expand, though they didn't rule it out. With the speed they seem to produce new models, I really wish they'd take a flyer on a single NA switcher sooner than later!

As you mentioned Ron, their track is great and I'd bet that they could easily afford to do NA rolling stock if they took a fancy. As long as what they produced was not the same as is out there now by AZL and MTL they should make a killing.

And as you mentioned John, a switcher would be appreciated by many I'm sure.

The JapaneseDiesel class DE10 is a diesel hydraulic locomotive and were introduced as general purpose engines in the late 1960's and were equipped with steam boilers for use in passenger services. they were rated 65 ton and 1250 hp., and 95 KPH. Some were later upgraded to freight service with steam boiler removed and additional ballast added to 70 tons and some upgraded to 1350 hp. So there are several classes of this locomotive. wheel arrangement is B+C other classes coming from this one are DE11 heavy shunting engine and the DE15 snow plow engine.
