Hello all, just like to inform you about the upcoming event of "Altenbeken" organized by the Z-Friends International. Altenbeken is a german railroad town with a big viaduct, a station, a roundhouse and a tunnel. In 2009, after two exhibitions had taken place in another place, we decided to have the third "Z-Weekend" in Altenbeken to take place in spring 2010, we have organized a further "Z-weekend" in 2012 and now we can see our event on the horizon! It will be taking place on March 29 and 30, 2014 in the "Eggelandhalle" (biggest hall in town). Be prepared to see noteworthy layouts from different clubs, groups and z-scalers. And be prepared to spend money as the manufacturers will be on place, too! here is a video from 2010, there is more to find in the net. I have been to the previous 2 but cannot make this years. For those that think; well, it is Germany, to far to travel, cost, language or whatever your thoughts are; you really need to make an effort to see this Z scale exclusive show. A very large US High School gym-size location, *JUST Z* and *PACKED* with Z people, not public people ! So many Z vendors (not selling N or TT or HO - JUST Z !!!). Many, many custom made products. It *IS* impressive. Many modular there with exquisitely detailed modules (*NOT* the type you mostly see at US shows). Below is from 4 years ago, the first show of the new location, pre-opening day (before all the vendors and people there)
I plan to be there... air and rail tickets booked, along with hotels. There may be some other factors that spoil my plans, but I will do my best to go.
Been there 2 years ago, but can't make it this year, I really want. It's the biggest Z-scale show ever I have visited. A lot to buy, both European and american. Its well Worth a trip. Some images from my trip: http://www.platelayer.com/altenbeken-2012-z-freunde-international.aspx
