What is your Favourite Train and why?? (I know some will have a Few) I shall Start. My Favourite N-scale Train is the Fleischmann ICE2 Train in DB livery.. Why? Because it is so sleek and futuristic and looks great when cornering at Speed. My Next achievement is to get an 8 Carriage Eurostar as I love the way they seem to glide on the rails.
G'day, Magnat. Hmmm... so many to choose from.... For sets,it would have to be a toss up between the Kato Eurostar and Tomix Shikansen 700 in Hikari Rail Star scheme for much the same reason you have stated. The Eurostar does look sleek. Mind, an ICE would be nice too! Otherwise it would be a two or three BN or Soo four-axle EMD's, or TC&W rebuilts Geeps, trailing a batch of grain hoppers through a prairie layout. Good luck chasing down a Eurostar. I've noted a few new sets lately on the 'auction site' going for £130-140+ (AU$320-340) here in the UK from a local seller. They are getting scarce on the ground, unfortunately, and the add-on sets.... rarer than hen's teeth. Good luck! [ 29. February 2004, 13:33: Message edited by: Gats ]
This is indeed a difficult question to answer. Perhaps it's a group of assorted Atlas and Kato Milwaukee Road GP's lugging a freight. Or a set of NP Atlas GP7 and 9 engines doing the same work. Does it seem as though I like the old GP locos? Boxcab E50
Well I don't know about any sets but I love to get all my intermodal stuff on one train behind a couple Atlas and Kato SDs. It would kinda look like this: 1 Deluxe 5 well articulated bulkhead set 1 Walthers 5 well articulated set 1 AC Models set of 48ft spines with trailers. 6 stand alone Walthers well cars 2 stand alone Roundhouse wells 8 Minitrix,Con-Cor,Microtrains 85/89 ft flats 3 60ft flats, 6 50ft flats and 2 front runners throw in one of those new aircraft parts cars on the end and ya got one hell of a train. Big problem is alas no layout
A perfectly matched set of GN SD-45's in big sky blue, or three of NP's Sd45' or Big U-boats. Although I wouldn't turn down a Milwaukee Road Little Joe power set.
Five BN C-30-7s tugging on a long coal train. The only thing better???? If they would only pour out all of that smoke that the prototype could!!!
If I had to chose only one I guess it would be my favorite prototype train, the original California Zephyr. I was very happy when I was able to get this train in N scale. But there are a lot of other ones that I like also like my excursion trains, the D&RGW passenger train I painted or the lowly ore or work trains. How about the Orient Limited cars or good old Thomas the tank and company? That's one of the neat things about this hobby so many trains, and not enough track to run them all.
So Most people on here like Diesels and Cargo over Electric and Passenger... Cool I want to get into Diesels as I totally hate Steam engines ..
A C-C J3a hudson and Kato smoothside passenger cars. A C-C GS-4 in black with various baggage, RPO and express box cars, a combine and a coach. A USRA light pacific and five RR B&O HW coaches.
