I bought an HO Woodland Scenics depot. How do I cement the clear plastic window glass to the metal (pewter or pot metal/ not sure ) window frames. I tried CA to no avail. I doubt styrene glue or white glue will work/epoxy seems to serious for situ. Guessing a rubber cement, maybe ? No ? Mark
I would think either white glue or something like Microscale's clear part filler would be fine. Failing that, perhaps some Future.
If all else fails you could try Apoxie Sculpt. I use it mainly for models as body filler but it will bond to almost anything and I haven't had any problems with it. It isn't cheap, but if your doing things like model building or RR kit bashing, it's a great thing to have around. Like Apoxie, it is A&B, but unlike glue Apoxie, this stuff is like clay. I'd put a bead around the window and a little lip then let it dry.
Mark, I’ve had luck using a product from Tap Plastics called E6000 for all kinds of materials. Here’s a link to a blog post I made about this stuff. http://www.tokyo-in-nscale.blogspot.com/2012/05/my-new-favorite-adhesive.html Brad Myers Peninsula Ntrak / AsiaNrail My Blogs: http://www.n-scale-dcc.blogspot.com/ http://www.palisadecanyonrr.blogspot.com/ http://tokyo-in-nscale.blogspot.com/
Mark, over here, I have used EVOSTICK IMPACT ADHESIVE for assembling plastic, or card or metal kits, or joining any one to any one of the others. It is a rubbery substance, so your guess on a rubber glue may well hit the mark. Regards, Pete Davies
This stuff is simply awesome. Available at hardware and auto parts stores. There are others if you do a search for metal glues. http://www.jbweld.com/product/j-b-weld/
Thanks for all replies. I already have JB Weld and totally forgot. But it still seems somewhat 'heavy' for mounting thin clear plastic (like .25" x .75") to metal window frame. But I'll try it or the other suggestions above.
I have always had problems getting clear plastic windows to glue permanently in place. They seem ok for a while, but are very easy to dislodge after they have been in with for some time. Maybe using wrong material, and/or wrong adhesive. Had forgotten about EvoStik! Will try that in future Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
