The first weekend of Spring is over and it's time to head back to work for most of us. How did you do this past weekend?

This weekend was a return to colder weather so it gave me a chance to get my T-Trak modules in order for next weekends Fun Run. All three T-Trak modules will be done by weeks end. I hope to have a bit of warm weather before Friday so module #3 can get a fresh coat of stain and clear so as to match the other two modules. Other than cleaning, the only work I did was to the T-Trak modules and spending some time on Google Earth to get the next two modules right.

So how about you? How did you fare this past weekend in your modeling endevours? Trak work, bench work, whatever you did, let us know. We'll come back on Friday the 28th and do it all over again. Until then, have a great week and...

    High Greens!

I got to the Greenberg train show on Saturday. I had no shopping list, and I only picked up a few small items - some trees and an ice-bunker reefer. But, I always like looking at the display layouts, and the happy kids of all ages.

Sunday was "work on the taxes" day. I got most of them done, and in the process I found a train magazine that I'd been looking for, buried in the W-2s and 1099s.

We've still got a few more weeks of skiing ahead, but after that I'll be back to the layout.

I surveyed, staked and stringlined the layout of the new building. Still need to scrape up a couple more hundred dollars before I get a basic structure in place. I discovered I had significantly over-calculated my need for 4x4 posts for footings, so that will shave $50-75 off building cost.

Also packed up all my paint and scenery material tubs and swept floor in current layout room. Most floor space I've had in there since I starting building 3 years ago.

I fired up the lathe and cut some new levers and a drive link for an antique velocipede that I am helping to restore at the Houston museum. This is 1:1 scale modeling. ;)

Static grass went down, did a touch of ballasting, wore some ground down around the snack shack and picnic tables using brown weathering powder, laid some leaves, and planted some trees (although not permanently). Productive weekend.

Nice work, everyone. I spent the weekend writing a research paper. Yuck...
Russ, what wood did you use for those levers? Hickory? They look like dead ringers to me.

I am really not sure what wood it is. Someone else provided it. I think it might be furniture grade ash. It was beautiful material to work.

Some fine work being produced here.

    Keep it coming.

Haven't done a thing but give me a chance.

Well, okay. Here's a scene I started last weekend. It depicts the construction of the Diversion Channel in Southeast Missouri in the late 19teens. The big double track steam dredger is scratchbuilt and the smaller steam shovel is an old Jordan kit. I have much left to do.
