Super Chief: Speed, Style and Service Michael Gross tells of the fast, luxurious train which ran between Los Angeles and Chicago from 1936 to '71; interviews and clips spotlight its VIP passengers, from movie stars to presidents.
Well RFD channel presented the Grand Canyon Railway tonight and along with the roads 2-8-0s and 2-8-2 they had a small segment with some ATSF steam and an old Alco FA that is supposed to be part of a ABA set that will be running. It will probably repeat this weekend again.
I've been on the Grand Canyon Railway. They put on a great show on the way to the Grand Canyon and back. The attempted train robbery was alot of fun. Williams Arizona is a great place to stay overnight while waitng to board the train the morning. Stay cool and run steam....
Tonight, I caught part five of the layout (HO) construction show on DIY Network. Wasn't bad. However, during one sequence, they had a three truck Shay going about 199 MPH. Boxcab E50
That DIY show is cool, it's just nice to see Model Railroading in the media a bit. I can't remember ehich channel it was on but I just watched a fascinating piece on the Alaska RR in modern day and how important it is to people living way out in the back 40. Sorta reminded me of the way the old steam engines ran.
I can't get the DIY channel on Cable in South Florida. I'll be in Dallas for ten days. maybe I can pickup up a model rr show on DIY on her dish. Stay cool and run steam.....
Bob, If you are going to be in the DFW area the first weekend in December - a must see is the annual train show in Oklahoma City. It is a 3 hour drive from the Carrollton area and well worth the trip. Jim
Jim: I'll be in Plano till November 29. The only model railroading I'll do is a trip to DMT in Addison to pick up some detail parts and whatever else I see there. They usually have some Kato Mikado's there. I might pick another one up if I can find an undecorated one. Stay cool and run steam.....
I'd be interested in viewing this particular show! If you spot it again, in an upcoming tv listing, please post the info for us. Boxcab E50
