If this has been placed here before, my apologies. A quick scan within the N scale forum produced a "Negatory Ghostrider." It is that time of year again to go to one of the best N scale shows in the United States, the Ohio N-Scale weekend. I went last year and had a great time running trains, meeting up with friends old and new and of course buying N scale items. The show is 100% N-Scale, so all the vendors, layouts and displays is, N scale. The Central Ohio N-Trak club does a great job putting this event on and if your in N scale, you should make time for this event. You'll see N-Trak modules from NJ, PA, OH, MI, IN and Illinois just to name a few, T-Trak from OH, IL and MN and vendors with all your N scale needs from all over. The Ohio folks put on a Saturday dinner as well as a Saturday evening auction, so bring cash or even items for the auction. Many door prizes too. Check it out at http://www.centralohiontrak.org/ No, I'm not a member nor am I a paid endorsement, I simply had A Lot of fun last year.
A lot of fun indeed! Highly recommended. But just a reminder, the dinner and auction are only for the participants. In other words those who paid the registration fee. The public part of the show ends before the dinner. However, there is food available during the day and it ain't bad either! Our club will be going again. In fact, I will be preparing the trailer for the trip this weekend. For us, this event marks the unofficial start of summer with the Bedford PA N Scale Weekend in August being the unofficial end of summer. The Bedford event is the original and Mike Phillips and his crew due a great job as do the Ohio guys. The commraderie at these events is unbelievable. Just a bunch of N scalers who get together run trains and have fun. Usually there are about 10-12 layouts both DC and DCC. Some are Ntrak and some not. Last year there was a T-trak layout also. There are some venders there as well and I have found better deals there than at regular train shows. Our club, as well as others, have a policy of allowing others the opportunity of running on our layout. So if you go, bring something to run if only an engine or two. I'm sure we can find some cars to put behind it.
Jim, thanks for the glowing endorsement. I am the secretary of Central Ohio N-trak and the registrar for this event. We enjoy putting on the show and hope that everyone has as much fun attending as possible. A reminder, in order to be sure of your Saturday meal and a t-shirt, I need to receive your order by Monday, April 28. participant form available on the web site. If you have problems downloading it, send me a private message and I will copy and paste on for you. Thanks, again, Jim and make sure you say hello to me when you arrive. Craig
You're very welcome Craig, I had a blast last year and sent my registration in a month ago. Craig, do me a favor and contact met off-line at jimw@flying-models.com. Carstens would like to help you guys out with some Railroad Model Craftsman and Railfain & Railroad items. I'll have three T-Trak modules that are scale to Maywood NJ, so if any of you are from the Garden State, stop by and say Hi. I'm also working on my double straight bridge module and will hopefully have completed my BNSF CB&Q Heritage ES44 that will be this years raffle prize at Galesburg RR Days this year.
Hmm... that's 3 hours away... Saturday is booked... might talk to the better half about a Sunday day trip, though...
I'll be there with the Burning River N Society from northeast Ohio. If you're on the fence about going, GO. This is one of the finest N Scale events in the midwest. Charlie
I'll be showing four new fireboats, three new towboats, two new barges and four barge covers, and just maybe a spectacular new BIG ship! This is a great weekend, and a fun show!
I'd love to go, but alas... Next weekend is also the World's Largest Amateur Radio Convention in Dayton, OH. My amateur radio license pre-dates my N scale addiction by a couple of decades.
I bought a WC GP40 with DCC for $65! (also an undec GP35 shell and a Vermont Railway boxcar!) Good show!
