Does anyone know how to put a dcc decoder in the lifelike 0-6-0T Saddle Tank Loco or which contacts to wire to would be a very big help. Thanks Jeff.:uhoh:
What kind of decoder? Those new small digitrax tsunamis might work? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Decoders Very easy if you know how to solder. All decoders come with instructions. I have installed decoders in locos that were not DCC ready by just following the instructions. Just make sure the two motor terminals have no wires on them from the original pickups. Rich
I think that his real problem is the size. If you cant fit it, bachmann makes them dcc installed for like $70 good luck! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
TCS and Digitrax have some nice small decoders. Not much bigger than a dime. TCS is putting out quite nice decoders. Expect to pay around $20.00 if you know how to shop online. Bachmann does have a nice 0-6-0T with DCC but the last I knew, the decoders are low end Lenz that many replace. Easy to do as you just solder the wires on a terminal strip in the loco. I have the loco. Rich.
G'day APV105, My layout is N Scale as is the lifelike 0-6-0T Saddle Tank Loco, I mainly need to know where to solder a Z2 decoder to, as this decoder will fit where the lead weight was. Regards Jeff.
Well the red wire is the right rail, the black wire is the left rail. Orange wire goes to the motor lead that was originally hooked to the right rail pick up. The gray wire goes to the motor lead that was originally hooked to the left rail pick up. Blue wire is the 12V positive wire for lights. White wire is the forward light wire and the yellow is the reverse light wire. Watch to make sure you use a resistor if the bulbs are not 12-16 volt bulbs. Same applys to LED's.
Like I said, just follow the instructions. What he said are there. For light bulbs, use a 22 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor in a light lead. This protects the light bulb from voltage surges every time you select a light. Surges are what shortens light bulb life. Rich
