Warning: Proto-police and Rivet Counters, just close this and walk away slowly! [IMG]

Well, after a coat of dullcoat, and some weather chalk being applied, the C&NW SD70MAC rolled across the Augsburg & Concord railroad this evening.

I still haven't added numberboards, but will as soon as I print them off on the laser printer at work.

I know the C&NW never had one, but I like the engine, and wanted to see one in C&NW. Let me know what you think.

Hey that is really cool. Works for me, but then I live somewhere just outside of reality anyway. [IMG]

Most model railroads still have a bit of 'toyness' to them. When I saw your pictures, my mind didn't think 'toy', it thought, 'man these engines get hard use!'

    Seriously nice weathering job, that!

Well, as a "Registered Rivet Counter" I can assure you that all the rivets seem to be in place. Looks great.

The way I do it is create a spreadsheet with copies of the numbers I want, in a standard font. Four columns gives you 4 numberboards for each number. Use the math functions to avoid typing in each number (if you have locos in a series).

Use a type size of 2, 2.5 or 3 points. Print off on a laser printer. Inkjets can't print this small, trust me I've tried.

I found leaving a blank row between each number and blank column between each column gives plenty of room to trim the paper with a knife. Apply the paper with glue, and BINGO, instant number boards. This works best with black numbers on white boards. The reverse image, white on black doesn't come out very well.
