Warning: Proto-police and Rivet Counters, just close this and walk away slowly! Well, after a coat of dullcoat, and some weather chalk being applied, the C&NW SD70MAC rolled across the Augsburg & Concord railroad this evening. I still haven't added numberboards, but will as soon as I print them off on the laser printer at work. I know the C&NW never had one, but I like the engine, and wanted to see one in C&NW. Let me know what you think. Jeff Augsburg & Concord R.R. (a fictional shortline in Central Illinois) Come see us on the web: http://www.pegnsean.net/~revnjeff
In one word: SWEEEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!!!! Rivet counters and loco "experts" be hanged- your rendition of a CNW Big Mac is dead-on!
Super Job,I did 2 SD-80's in Erie Lackawanna, but they were one of the first when I started to do custom detailing. They do look cool, but.I'm thinking of doing them over.Mike
Most model railroads still have a bit of 'toyness' to them. When I saw your pictures, my mind didn't think 'toy', it thought, 'man these engines get hard use!' Seriously nice weathering job, that!
Well, as a "Registered Rivet Counter" I can assure you that all the rivets seem to be in place. Looks great.
Since I live like 20 from the Old CNW Oelwien yard, i sit in awww...... and wonder what might have been........ Super job man!!!
Rev,awesome work! Tell me more about printing number boards on the puter, would that be better than aligning the little numbers just right????!???? Love the look, Now picture a SOO 70mac, not in the candy apple red either,,,the classic red and white " hockey stick"...adios wyatt
The way I do it is create a spreadsheet with copies of the numbers I want, in a standard font. Four columns gives you 4 numberboards for each number. Use the math functions to avoid typing in each number (if you have locos in a series). Use a type size of 2, 2.5 or 3 points. Print off on a laser printer. Inkjets can't print this small, trust me I've tried. I found leaving a blank row between each number and blank column between each column gives plenty of room to trim the paper with a knife. Apply the paper with glue, and BINGO, instant number boards. This works best with black numbers on white boards. The reverse image, white on black doesn't come out very well.
