I own three of these, and love them, but I'm beginning to lose traction tires. I tried gluing them in place with less than satisfactory results. Where does one get well fitting replacement tires? Athearn has so far ignored my inquiry...

I have been replacing traction tires with BFS (Bull Frog Snot) and it gives the locos I used it on more pulling ability than the original traction tires that it came with.

Bullfrog Snot. I replaced my Kato GS4's tires with it after they kept working themselves off.

Thanks guys, I know about BF Snot, but my question was and still is about replacement traction tires fitting the Challenger. Sources, anyone?

I've used Kato Mikado or Kato GS-4 traction tires to replace worn out or missing tires on a number of different locomotives. I'm not sure of the driver size on the Challenger but you can compare them to the Mike or GS-4 to select the right size traction tire.

    Have fun, Mark

Lo and behold, I got a call from an Athearn rep out of the blue last week and he informed me they do have Challenger traction tires in stock.
$6 per axle plus $10 shipping (must be BIG and heavy traction tires)
So for only $23.65 including tax, I'm now the lucky owner of two sets of replacement tires, enough to do two axles...
