I picked up a great deal on AZL center beams from Rob's black Friday deal recently and now am wondering which loads would be the best for these cars? Suggestions anyone? Sometimes I can't believe that I've been in the hobby for 10 years and know so little about so many aspects of Z scale. Don't judge me too harshly, I have other life interests too.....................but Z is more fun.....................way more fun

Thanks all for the info. The paper wraps are the least expensive, but I imagine the loads from Detail N scale are the best looking.

By the time you buy two loads for a car and add the cost of the car, you have some very serious money tied up in just one car. I'll have to go slowly with my lumber purchasing .

Don't forget the Anderson Truss frames (roofing) and just plain ply or board stacks. Karin made some, really well done with the silver paint on the nail plate reliefs. The ply stacks made from thin hobby supply ply looks good enough and lumber (boards) can be either flush end stacks or loose random end stacks.

For the flush end stacks, laser all the way thru the thin wood only on the very ends (to simulate individual board ends) and on the top board, 10% power to look 'scribed', creating 8, 10, 12 or 16' boards. Make sure the top board also as 100% all the way thru on the very ends so it looks like a 'board' (like the layers under it).

For random length board stacks, copy/past same board lengths but randomly shift a few thousandths 'left and right'. Flip and Invert them when stacking them. The effect looks very good.
