Looks like I should have kept some of these kits I produced several years ago, before selling the line! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371236347401?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2661&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
That's not a real price. That is a "let me see if anybody is crazy enough to pay me 3x what these things are worth" price. We looked into making spine cars, but I had two factories turn down the job because they are VERY hard to mass produce. Before anyone questions this, let me remind you that making things by hand or in kit form is a completely different process than mass production ready to roll. That being said, I always thought they were cool cars.
I still have my 2 sets, and they are still pristine and unweathered, but I just can't seem to part with them.
There are long running threads here in N, HO and O Forums which point out the far too many listings there are such at such prices. Plus other shortcomings...
He is a good and reliable seller. I have dealt with him many times over the years. I recommend contacting him directly... not buying through feeBay. Yes... some of his prices are more than I'm willing to pay, but it is whatever the market is willing to support or not.
I have bought stuff from this person before. He has some good prices and some not so good... Like anything, you need to know what your buying before you buy it on Ebay... But there are some dealers on Ebay that insist posting rail cars for $30 to $40 when it should be $15 to $20.... And they keep posting them over and over and over again, sometimes for years without selling them or changing the prices... Its as if they dont want to sell them.....
There are really only 2 ways to make a living selling trains... Either sell volumes of popular new unloadia at minimal margins, or sell scarce items at premium markups to those desperates that missed out. Which seller do you suspect works the hardest, and which the smartest? Hint: he has 1500 sells the past 12 months!
