I am looking for the red/black cord/wire that comes with a KATO Unitrak switch. I acquired a switch that I would like to use but it does not have the wire assembly. For some reason it doesn’t look like you can buy that individual piece part. Does anyone have a spare they are willing to part with? Thanks.
I have unitrack turnouts and the # 6 has the wire already attached and the # 4 has a wire you have to plug in. I am assuming you acquired a # 4 turnout. I think the wire gauge is close to 24 gauge. Not sure witch one you have? Robert
This part is sold at hobby shops that sell Kato Unitrack. I do not find them listed online. There is a power lead part that also fits the #4 turnouts for control. In my experience, it works for turnout and power leads.
Kato's signal extension cord will plug in to a #4 turnout (you'll have to cut the connector off the other end). It is Kato part number 24-845 and it is sold at many online retailers.
I don't think the "extension cords" from Kato will plug DIRECTLY into a #4 turnout. The connector of the OEM cord supplied with the turnout has a smaller plug that fits under the track, rather than the mini Tamyia connectors on each end of the "extension" cords. This is an interesting subject. I would love to find some "extra" track power connector cords and turnout control connector cords in my LHS or on-line. But, I have never seen them, yet.
If you have the pin connector supplied with the turnout, plug into the switch, leave yourself as much wire as possible and cut the other end of. Feed the wire thru your base and then run your own wire back to the switch control. Infinite lengths are possible and is a cheaper alternative,
The track power lead wire will also fit the #4 turnout, it is blue and white wire versus red and black of the standard turnout wire.
