For those within driving distance of Sacramento, CA this weekend, there is a train show Saturday and Sunday. I'll be setting up a few FreeMo-N modules as part of the Silicon Valley FreeMo-N group. There will be other layouts in different scales and of course many vendors. The show is being held at Cal Expo and kids 11 and under are free...see all details on their website: http://www.greattrainexpo.com/shows/2015Sacramento.html Here is a video of the last show's layout...it's different every time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlP5b2UMCZs Ryan https://www.facebook.com/SacramentoFreeMoN
I'll do my best. MC won't be attending the show so the usual high quality video will be lacking for this show. I'm also hoping this show helps our new group Sac FreeMo-N off to a good start. If you're an N scaler in the Sacramento, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Auburn, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Elk Grove, Davis or nearby areas and are interested in taking modular N scale modelling to the next level, contact me or come to the show to see it in action! http://www.sac-free-mon.com/
I am going to try to document the show, and will post here. Will even try a video, with my new smartphone (doubt will be as good as MCs)
First phase of setup this evening.... We'll be at it a dawn putting together the rest of the layout and getting trains running by 10am!
Hey Ryan, I know all us Sacramento folks talked about getting together during the show...dropped the ball, but I'll be there this morning. Look forward to seeing you again. The club is carpooling down, Hopefully the rest of the Central Valley Trainboarders stop by.
I haven't gotten many pictures yet - lots of operating and talking to the folks visiting at the show. Here's Western Pacific U23B #2252 & #2258 leading a grain train, out of the siding, on one of Ryan Wilkerson's modules. Hoping to take a lot more tomorrow. Dustin Yates West Sacramento, CA
The anarcho collective was the highlight of the operating railroads in my humble opinion. There were some good deals and finds to be had in the HO side and I also saw some good prices on some N scale. Good number of dealers as well.
Here are some more photos of the show: Here's the Morning Daylight, at Silicon Valley Station. This photo, along with the following photos through the rock wall, were taken with my new 14mm fully MANUAL lens, acquired primarily for night-sky photography. But, the optics are so great, it does a magnificent job in capturing scope of the layout, too (frankly much better than the wide angle zoom lens I normally use) Here we have an Amtrak train pulling in next to the Daylight
The Wall of Rock Nils' "Wall of Rock" has had a lot finishing touches added to it, since its debut at the Richmond Show in January. Ballast, drainage pipes, a stream... all contribute to the realistic impact this 90(ish) curve makes Nils' unit coal train pulling through the curve Eric's Amtrak (with Erik and Nils visible)
Industrial Module Nils' industrial module has continued to evolve. Here we see the details taking shape on the retail space. Not too sure about a logging truck in the urban environment.... There are upward spot lights for the palm trees A close up of the store fronts The front edge of the module also has this new amazing loading bay area. Even down to the appropriate placards
There are even hazardous material placards, but I didn't see the MSDS binders, nor are there any safety showers or eyewash stations Moving on, the homeless encampment under the highway overpass Freight moving through the area
A wider view of the front of the module Want a Tesla? And this new factory building (with an interior that extends far beyond the edge of the module - maybe Nils needs a TARDIS, too)
