I am looking for any ideas or products that enable you to reach the center of your layout easily if you do not have a "hatch" build in.

How far do you need to reach? How high is the layout?

I have seen photos of step type ladders made to allow such actions. Not sure who made them. I believe they were a commercial unit. There have been pictures posted here in the past, but it has been a few years now. I would believe you could adapt something.

I have two hard to reach spots, I stand on a chair to get to them.

My layout is only 18" deep at any given point, so I just extend my hand away from my body to the desired distance and viola!

I have to 'reach' deep from time to time on my layout. I find a two-step stool invaluable. You may have to consider putting a hand down on the layout for balance. I use batting or golf glove for this as you will probably be leaning on your rails. Jim

It's about a four foot reach. Been adding on and now I am stuck with a long reach. Thanks for the suggestions.
