Just had this show up when clicking a result to this link: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?104637-Southern-quot-Big-John-quot
What was it? This link is not showing anything odd. If it happens again, try to grab a screen capture.
A screen capture would not be very forum appropriate. LOL. I just clicked a TB link from Google and it redirected to an Adult site. Jason
The redirection was attempted on me on 5/28/2015. Norton stopped it. Please see attached image for details. I clicked on the following link while searching in Bing. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?149462-Turnouts-tortoise-switches-and-wiring
True. But it could be PM'd to us. A link to something which works normally when tested and we are left wondering. I just hit it, too. It has been reported.
I've been getting redirects to adult sites almost every time I've come to this site. Mostly that happens from links in google results. But I can't swear that it's ONLY from those links. If I hit back and then hit the link again, it works fine. Been that way for years. Just happened again, so I looked to see if anyone else has this issue and found this thread. Just an FYI that it's still happening.
Reported this, again. It's a really ugly thing called "filestore72", and it is somehow sneaking in via a hole in the software. It does not show every time. It works on a sequence of some sort, and only pops up every few times a person searches for us, such as using Google. It is deeply embedded, very hard to clean and consumes a lot of time.
I just read up on this, and it looks like a few rounds of really good scotch and ssh/cPanel access... http://www.blackberryos.com/off-top...e72-info-url123-info-etc-redirect-google.html
The way that virus works is via outside linking, such as Google. You should be able to defeat it by simply bookmarking TrainBoard pages. Then no outside linking is needed.
I wanted to chime here, it happens a lot to me, anymore I ignore it, hit the back button and then click the link again. I have the site bookmarked but when I do a google search for something and the site shows up in the result it happens every time. Chris
A good workaround is to replace Google search with another search engine. I use duckduckgo, and have only ever been redirected anywhere once, and that was probably because of a mis-spelling on my part. I have noticed these redirects are much more prevalent if the spelling of the website being searched for is not entirely correct.
duckduckgo is what I use too. It's simple, effective and avoids the nonsense that seems to pervade a number of other search engines.
