Worked on some Chessie this evening. I love how the gp30 turned out. Decals later this week.

you have mastered how to paint with such sharp edges like a decal.

This takes me back to being a kid, and my very first N-scale loco!! It was one of those old 70's Atlas GP30's, in the Chessie paint schme of course!

My oh my, how far things have come!! Super great work here, Aaron!!

Awesome!! Could you describe how you obtain such neat colour stripes painting them instead of using decals?

Thanks Dom! I don't have a special technique. I use tamiya tape, a nice airbrush, and I've had a lot of practice. It took awhile to get the right colors and technique to make a smooth line. Patience is your friend on a project like this.

Well, I've still a long way to go before arriving to such a level of perfection....

Practice makes perfect. I didn't produce the best results when I first started painting. I'm not an expert by any means but I've been practicing for almost two years. It takes awhile to get used to. The best advice I received was telling me my paint was to thick and to get a better setup. Once I did that the results were immediately better.

I remember your first Chessie thread. You have come a long way since then. That was a very informative thread though. I ended up picking up a Khrome based on that painting advice. Keep up the good work!
