We are finally ready to release our first F3 set. We have chosen the D&RGW F3A&F3B Phase II as our first F unit release. As many of our locomotives, expect a lot of unique details like:
-Tall Roof Fans vs Low 36" Roof Fans
    -Passenger or Freight Pilots
    -Steam generator Option
    -Dynamic Brake Option
    -One or two Headlights
Both A and B units are powered. A drawbar for close coupling is included. More details and photos on our web site.
    Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

Well I went to the AZl forum and the search feature couldn't find anything on the EMD F3! I seem to remember reading something there in months past. I too am interested in what railroads will be released and when. Looking for UP and CB&Q.

UP is part of our first run. CB&Q is included in our 2nd F3 run. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

In checking AZL forum, searching "F3A" leads to a lot of results. Strangely, their search feature will not allow a query with 2 characters (such as "F3") and not everyone types in EMD when they post about the F3's. Actually, looks like nobody used EMD with F3!

I usually model GN/SP&S, but the AZL Santa Fe F3s look great. They are listed as DCC ready - anyone know which decoder(s) are drop-ins for the F3?

    You can use either:

    Digitrax DZ123Z0 (that's a Zero) 2 function decoder (http://www.digitrax.com/products/mobile-decoders/dz123z0/)
    TCS's AZL4 (http://www.tcsdcc.com/Customer_Content/Products/Decoders/Z-Scale/Z Series.html)

Since there is essentially only the single forward light, either decoder will work. I prefer the Digitrax, as the BEMF function (load and poor running loco compensation) is *far* less overcompenstating and, you only need essentially the Forward (F0F) light function.

Both program the same for standard running functions and can be programmed with any DCC system or jmri programmer.

I am modifying my forward light pipe into 2 separate pieces and remoting the rear light (F0R) to an LED placed below the built in. This will give me the MARS light on top and the standard light below.
