Sent to me by my sister the other day. Thought I'd be interested. Unfortunately, there's no information indicating where it is, or what railroad it once belonged to. Kinda sad to see the unit being reclaimed by nature! An interesting model subject!!
The "where" could be at least as interesting as the "what." Looks as though Mother Nature is trying hard to claim it.
Looks as if it could be one of the followings: 2-8-0 2-6-0 4-6-0 Thinking more than likely, its the remains of a 2-8-0. This, despite NOT being able to see the entire underside, because of the growth taking over!
I would make a wild guess that it is an old narrow gauge locomotive used on a sugar cane plantation somewhere like Cuba.
The tree branches are unfamiliar to me, also the grasses. Does anyone recognize them? Might be a clue as to location.
Russell nailed it. https://www.floridamemory.com/items/show/267825 Information I've come across, seats photo 1960. So an actual location and/or GE view may not be possible.
Just a wild guess... but perhaps in the area of "Old Train Ln"? http://www.bing.com/maps/default.as...58~-81.00887&ppois=25.94551_-81.3583_Copeland Of course in the 55 yrs since your picture, who knows if or where it is now....
My guess, is that the remains have been heavily vandalized, and scrapped years ago! Interesting to see, sad to realize the remains have been torched long ago. Would be neat to find something like that, then claim it and try to figure out how to go about saving what's left!
Has to be a very old photo, as the logo would have long since succumbed to weather...AND....some axxwipe railfan would have sawed off the bell and whistle for his personal collection.
