The Worlds Greatest Hobby Show tour is coming the the Expo Center at Chantilly, VA this weekend.

Worth taking the time to go if it comes to your area. Some of the major manufacturers will be there, such as Kato, Athearn, Bmann, Atlas, Marklin, Walthers, Woodland Scenics, etc. Also a lot of area venders and some manufacturer I've never heard of. Of course there will be stuff for sale so I'm taking my wallet and also taking my camera. There will be about 17 layouts set up with Northern Virginia N trak setting up a 50 X 200 foot layout.

Hope to have a bit of time to talk with some of the manufacturers and add some photos of some long consists running the Ntrak.

MP was at the one in Edison, New Jersey, a while back. I noticed that it will not be at this one. Too bad, I wanted to have another discussion with the representative about the small steam.

Still, I can see that there will be others there to whom I can talk. I am interested in learning if Athearn plans to re-issue the old MDC 1880s mogul.

It appears that the layouts will also be worth examining. I find that this show is less for the vendors and more for manufacturers and layouts, anyhow. No junk piles at this one.

    Hey Broke:

Can you ask Athearn about the 50' Overlands, too, if you would. I can't understand just sitting on that tooling when they are such nice models. Oh, and Undecorateds! Please ask them to consider undecs as well.

Guess you didn't know you were going to be elected delegate to the convention? The Right Honorable Steamhead Delegate Brokemoto - has a nice ring to it, doesn't it! Thanks and have a great time.

Three questions for the Athearn representative, as of now:

    1. Pfaudler car trucks (for a gentleman on TheRailWire)

    2. a. Fifty foot wood passenger cars
    b. undecorateds
    (for Boxies)

    3. Moguls (for me). I had better write down these and check the forums for any more before I go.

    Answers to Athearn questions

1, Both Pfaudler and express car trucks will be available separately

    2, a. Fifty foot wood passenger cars-YES
    b. undecorateds-NOT likely

    3, Moguls-YES

Athearn did acquire the parts inventory from MDC, so they do sell the parts for the MDC stuff. They may not have all parts, but they do have some. The representative did say to contact the parts department
