This is on the west end of my Rosenberg NTRAK modules. The lighting in the garage where we were set up was kind of weird.

This project has been on the back burner since the F40 came out (hence the no ditchlight version). I had proto photos of one unit that had retained all the vents along the roofline for a little while, but now I've lost them, so I punted and decided to just go with the version where the vent over the roll up door is filled in. Hoping to have this done by Trainfest....

Nothing much accomplished this past week, so some new pictures from at the club!

Pair of Athearn GP9's going past hobo heaven, you can see the flickering fire as they make their hobo stew.

Another picture of the GP9's leaving the tunnel with a train made up of various cement covered hoppers.

    See you all later!

I found a couple of original-run Roundhouse FMC Railboxes at a swap meet last Saturday. Here's how they looked when I got them home:

    Then I weathered them:

Both of them had Kadees, and one had metal wheels. On any swap meet car, I either add Kadees or make sure they swing freely, center properly, and are at the right height. I add metal wheels if needed. 30-year old Roundhouses actually turn out pretty well as layout models.

Some nice weathering. That RBOX has me remembering the many months spent sweating, building an order of them at PC&F.

My first time doing graffiti on a freight car. Done with Sharpies and DecoColor paint pens.

SRY 9361. Colors are off a little bit, maybe putting a clear coat of flat will tone down a little bit. Otherwise, I will say the artist just tagged this car yesterday.

Wow! What a transition. I haven't got into weathering my cars yet. Something to plan for my retirement maybe.

    Nice job there!

Nice! But, if you try to use dull coat or a gloss coat... use it very lightly... and do a couple of layers. If you use too much... the Sharpies will bleed and run... no matter how long you have let it dried. Been there, done that! LOL! JMS

Yep, I've been warned. Going to do some testing to see if there are products that won't cause it to run, have a few suggestions to try.

Microscale clear coats work well and are water based so they do not dissolve inks.
