You mean that having a couple of fellows standing around, getting in the way, doing nothing, BSing and being a general nuisance wouldn't be helpful and speed up completion? :)

Be careful. Lugging around all that money can cause serious injuries. Ruptured discs, hernias and stuff like that.

Damn, Allen. Those cabinets are looking great! I know we've talked about it before, but I still want you to build me some doors to get the wife off my back. Perhaps this summer?

    Lincoln, NE.
Unfortunately, I'm a one man shop.
    It's a slowly becoming a dying trade.

    Thanks Chuck!
The options still open, but it better be sooner than later.

Sad situation. Soon nobody will have the skills. It will all be pre-made in China.

It's close now the way it is.
At least around here the contractors want factory cabs so they get things done faster, collect and move onto the next job.
It also seems that most of the customers have no idea what the difference is between factory junk and custom quality.
    Truly a sad state.

They figure it out when the factory junk doesn't last. I used to work in the Kitchen and Bath section of a large home improvement retailer and there's no way I would put that crap in my house. Press wood stapled together with plastic brackets. Forget it. The stuff in my current house will be replaced in a couple of years with stuff that will last.

So at some point you'll have more time for the layout? :)

When we remodeled several years ago, we bought good quality semi-custom cabinets and my wife was still amazed at how much better the quality of the original cabinets were. I had all the old cabinets moved into my basement workshop and I installed them there. Couldn't bear to see them tossed.

    I hear that Art!
If I had any of those cheapo boxes and anyone of my friends ever found out, I'd be in serious trouble! LOL

I remember one time back when my father had the shop, a customer came in wanting their kitchen remodeled.
Father gave them an estimate and they were quite startled at the price and was kind of taken back a bit. The first thing they did was start complaining about the high cost of the estimate and how they thought it highway robbery. Then they kind of insulted Dad and then left.

About two years later the same couple came back complaining about how their cheap cabinets were falling apart and the drawers were coming un-built and wanted to know if he would still be willing to remodel their kitchen? Dad was always pretty easy going, so he said "Sure" and then worked up another price, which he basically doubled. When they seen the bid they couldn't believe the price and asked why had it almost doubled?

"Well, I had to take time to re-draw the job and......." Before he could finish, they turned around and got in the car without saying a word.

Dad always had a sign in office that read "The Price is soon forgotten, but the Quality lingers on"
I still have that sign hanging in my office....

Yup, once this project is off my plate, I plan to get back to the layout and have fun...

Yes do they George, yes they do!
I've always like what you did with yours. Very clever idea I might add.

A buddy of mine in Kansas build a bunch of base cabinets, and did a very fine job of it as well, for a base of his HOn3 layout.
He told me he did it for storage of his trains and stuff. Well now he's got more storage than he knows what to do with.
I told him that was a terrible thing to have to deal with, LOL

Kind of hard to see as I didn't focus on the cabinets
