I always found him to be very personable and easy to talk to. He helped take Bachman generally away from the toy market, so I hope that management doesn't slip backwards.
And the word I got yesterday, in a PM from someone in the business: "Well...within hours of his announcing his retirement...H. Lee passed at his desk yesterday. " Phone call to confirm not yet answered.
First thing I thought...and my first comment reflects that idea. "Time will tell how this pans out. 30 day's notice?" You would think they would make a big deal out of this...Bach, nmra, dcc, everybody.....celebrations and all....but to give 30 days and then...?
There is a post/thread on the "Ask the Bach Man" forum on the Bachmanntrains site confirming his passing.
