Yay! March is here! I hate winters in the Midwest so March , while certainly not without it's winter weather, is at least that much closer to the warmer temps. Not only that but it's time for Weekend Modeling Plans!

This past week, I finished the two Atlas PS-1 boxcars for the B&M railroad. These will look nice on the Galesburg City Job mixed in with all the CB&Q, Santa Fe, Rock Island etc. I'm really impressed with these cars that Atlas has made and will buy more but be forewarned, they are delicate!

I got my polystyrene sheets on Monday and started using a combination of Google Earth and old photos of the area I'm modeling and started making paper mock ups of the two main roads, Henderson and Forth street. My goal is to get those two important roadways down, painted and weathered. The jury is still out on adding a crossing system for Henderson. While there is one there now, I can't find a set in the photos I have, yet Henderson was just as busy then as now.

I also have a LARGE order in both scale and quantity of custom paint in the shop. The same buddy who had me paint up his 2 rail O scale GP50 in a fantasy Bloomer Line colors wants me to do the same with his freight car fleet which consists of 9 freight cars. That's a lot of Chinese Red!

Overall, I hope to accomplish a lot this weekend, especially where the first showing of the year for the layout is coming up the first weekend in April. Warm weather is scheduled for this weekend so I hope to open the windows and get to work!

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Sounds like we have some lucky modelers who are ready to start bench work, how about some track work? Maybe a little DCC or scenery? Whatever your plans are, let us know. We'll all come back on Monday, March 7th and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

The Domestic CFO/CAO and I have renegotiated local space use, so the Mount Rainier Division of the BRS is about to move. Good news is I may be able to more accurately model one of Baton Rouge's signature chemical plants. The bad news is I have to finish reorganizing the basement. (n)

I have a couple of water tank cars that I'm going to weather a bit.

My plan for the weekend is to install a LokSound decoder in my 2-10-2, and redecorate and weather it. Not sure what happened on my prior labeling but after about 6 months, all the MicroScale decals just lifted, peeled and fell off. Have never seen that happen before, so I need to fully clean and prep the tender shell again.

Finally getting back into the train room after a Loooooong hiatus. Hoping to get my mining spur track laid down so I can finish the mountain it comes out of. I've got the 2 bridge abutments placed today. The glue should be dry by tomorrow. Once that is done I can continue the main line on into the yard.

Not sure what's happening with decals, but it seems to me that over this past year I have read of many folks having troubles with many types and brands.

Won't be working on the layout this weekend, but will be going to the Rochester (NY) Model RR Club Open House today. Tomorrow it will be back to Rochester to finish baseboard trim in my daughter's kitchen. I have made a little progress laying track during the week but still have plenty to do. Also have devised a plan for relocating the wine making space so that I can clear out the rest of the room and continue to add benchwork through the summer.

    Nothing planned. With this warm
Weather it is hard to stay focused on the modeling. I have fishing on the brain.
