My first train set was probably either 1960 or 1961, while we were living in Japan (just outside / now well within Tokyo -- my father was stationed there). I know it was a three-rail system, but do not remember brand. I think we got rid of it in the 67-68 timeframe, after numerous moves.

The next trains that I owned was the G-Scale Playmobil western train set, which I bought for my girls around 1995. We augmented that set with an LGB starter set, and had gobs of fun with them. Still have them, storing them for possible grandkids. Started my N-scale experience in early 2009, when I first joined TB.

My first was a Life LikeHO scale F7A in BN livery and pulling four really light weight freight cars and caboose (no box car, though). Still have, but they bounce around on code 83 track. Wife bought them for me by mail order from JC Penny when we were stationed in Japan in the mid-'80s.
