Now the questions for me become:
1.What prototype will the 4-6-0s be based on. I hope the high boiler is based on the C&NW R-1 and not the NYC F-12 which looks so big and would not lend itself to being a shortline engine.
2.Will the N&W Heavy 4-8-2 have a N&W tender. For almost all their life the N&W 4-8-2 had a true N&W tender and not a USRA tender.
3.How close are the RF&P and IC 4-8-2s to the USRA heavy 4-8-2, because the information I have only shows the N&W and C&O as having the Heavy USRA 4-8-2.
4.For the love of God would someone please make a N&W class A so I can see 1218 run on my layout!

Too bad Rivarossi or Bachmann didn't make a K4s. Only 1 survives and its gonna be stored at Altoona or around the Horseshoe Curve, but right now its in Steamtown (Scranton,PA) getting overhauled.

Actually Bachmann does make a PRR K4, although not a completely accurate model, its not bad. It has been offered in both pre-war and modernized version. From what I have heard the newer version runs very well.
As for preservation, 2 of the famous K4s survive. One is 1361 which is being restored at Scranton, and then 3750 which is at the RMOP in Strasburg Pa. 3750 is stored inside along with most, but not all of the collection.

Great news Eric! I posted over yonder on Fish bellies. Didn't see this post then. By God, I would love to see Life-like do an N&W A class. I think I'd order like 6, if I could afford it. Someone in the N&WHS does build A classes from the Bowser Challenger kits. Next I think he's doing an S1a from Life-Like's 0-8-0. I might give it a try.

I wonder if Life-Like will do a release of the S1 for C&O and N&W. I would think it would only take some slight modifications to their current USRA 0-8-0. However, I am afrais that the different tender might be a sticking point.
I think the best bet for an A is Rivarossi. From what I have heard, Bachmann has said they are not going to do one. So if you want an A, email Rivarossi. I already did. I made the argument that 1218's popularity would make this a popular model beyond the N&W fan. By the way, I am a Pennsy fan, but a few N&W steam engines do find their way onto my layout.

PS: Pennsy owned about 33% of the N&W

    Eric,
Yeah, it would be nice of Life-Like to an S1 for us. The tender could be done with a little kitbashing, some sheets of styrene and some CA right. As for Rivarossi doing an "A". Personally, I think Life-like would do a better job, but I think Rivarossi would actually be the ones to manufacture it. Did you order one of the Allegheneys yet? I did, can't wait to get it. Supposedly Bachmann is redoing their "J", I guess it's going to have the correct boiler size and the like. It's going to be Spectrum quality. I hope so, I really hope they do a much better paint job. It would be nice though. If you look on E bay, someone is always selling S1 class models in brass. Some really nice ones went recently for around $300-400. I think I'll stick to converting a Life-like!
    Happy Modeling! jeff

Yes Bachmann is redoing their N&W J. It is supposed to have the correct boiler on it and a see through frame. The are supposed to have test shots on display at the Chicago show this coming weekend. Hopefully someone will post an eyewitness account and pics. The stated release date is this December. I am taking a wait and see attitude. If it is correct, I will buy one.
Yes, I did order an Allegheny. Judging by the picture shown on this board from the NMRA convention, it might be out October. I am not holding my breath though. Idecided to get the Allegheny and a Pennsy Life-Like Y3 rather than a Trix Big Boy.

That's good news! I too bought a life-like Y3 (N&W) it's an amazing piece of work. I'm really pleased with it. I'm going to get the 3rd release when it comes out. Looking forward to a new "J" also.

Well folks I could not resist this one. I bought one of the Bachman's PRR. K4 and 4 passenger cars on Ebay some time ago. I only paid $75 for the set, what a steal! That little K4 is a real performer! Its hard to see all the details of the K4 in this shot but boy what a beautiful steamer she is! :D [IMG]

I am new to this gauge but I have two nice bachman steamers and am pleased with the quality and price.

Much beeter detail than o gauge.

I am working on a shelf layout, in O and Ho with Lionel Fast Track and Altlas True track.

It will haul coal and lumber.

    I have a Roundhouse shay and a K LIne O shay.

Jeff, the BLI Class A is a really nice engine, and the sound is eerily beautiful. They had an overstock a couple years ago, and they went on sale for less than $225, which is about what you'd pay for one if Life-Like P2K did one. I actually bought mine off eBay for less than $200, and it's the pride of my N&W steam fleet, with the Y3 running a close 2nd.
