Although I wouldn't buy either. I truly wish Kato would do the NCL and the TCL. I do the BN and PC, so I have my own versions of East and West name trains. But, everybody else and their Grandma' wants those two trains !!! They would sell MILLIONS !!! If they ever did those trains, I have to wonder what we would be begging for next. My choice ??? Rocky Mountain Rocket !!! A Kato AB-6 would REALLY be cool !!!

Well... I continue to want the Northern Pacific North Coast Limited... that's not going to change.
There are several smaller consists which would be great to have as well.
My concern is that focus on smaller consists may interfere with the production of the more commonly known large consists.

Even though I model the western US... I would like to see some of the well known eastern trains with appropriate motive power.
I would love to purchase a New Central Twentieth Century Limited with a Dreyfuss Hudson steam engine.

I think to make all people happy, Kato should do the multiple road releases from the 1998-2007 time frame that came in the 4 car sets. I think Sunset Limited and Golden State painted cars would be great personally.

My primary focus is what ran in Texas. However I add to that trains that I rode as a kid. The recent release of the generic C&NW trainset was close enough to the Flambeau 400 that I rode, so I bought it. The PRR Broadway Limited was close enough to the Gotham Limited that I rode so I bought it. If they ever do a GN Empire Builder, I rode the Western Star which was close enough. Heck, if they release the Twentieth Century Limited, I never rode NYC but I would probably get one of those because it is so cool. Now the North Coast Limited.......hmmm.....maybe. o_O

My greatest concern now is that Kato will just 'wing-it' for the NCL... and put out trainsets based on the old tooling as they have done over the past year for CNW, IC, Alaska etc... THAT WOULD BOTHER ME A LOT.

... more streamliners. Let's take that Norfolk & Western J-class #611, away from Bachmann, shall we? Show 'em how it's done! ;)

If that does happen, you wonder why they would have been waiting 25 years to finally do it.

Just to annoy anyone that wants a prototypical NCL consist

Kato refuses to make up its mind on whether to produce the old Pine Tree/Butter Knife paint scheme or the one that followed in 1954. According to Japanese mystics of the Yamabusi doctrine, the ancient Shinto deities favor the early paint scheme but the new industrial thug street gangs prefer the later scheme. The powers that be at Kato do not want to incur the wrath of either faction so put off any decision on producing a train set.

Just to tease the NP fans, now that the SDP40F will be available, maybe Kato will make an Amtrak "North Coast Hiawatha" with a couple of token Loewy two-tone green cars along with a random selection of cars from Amtrak and other predecessor roads:

Not to worry folks, you will have your NP NCL announced right after I sell off all my NP locomotives. You see I had purchased them in the event the NCL was ever produced.

Unfortunately, Point353 may not too far off. Look what Kato did with the PC !!! Put out some nice locomotives, but only enough cars to model "The Dummy" !!!

Speaking of nice locos, here's another North Coast Hiawatha example with a trio of NP F-units pulling an NP two-tone green baggage, a BN green w/"hockey stick" white stripe coach, a couple of GN big sky blue cars, 1 or 2 UP cars and an ex-CZ dome-obs bringing up the rear.

Wow! What a mess. Remember when railroads took pride in their passenger service?

SP MT-4 in 1/2 daylight and black to go along with the daylight cars.

SP P-10 (would be great for a commuter series with a few harriman passenger cars to go along with it)

    SP and UP 4-10-2 locos

Re-run the GS-4 first series with the numberboards in the middle

I've already agreed to both the MT-4's and the GS-4 and/or 6. Sign me up for both (and lots of them).

That reminds me. I missed out on Kato's "War Baby" (Southern Pacific Lines) GS. Love to have one and maybe a Daylight loco as well.
