I'm not sure how many folks are familiar with Chuck Yungkurth. Whether it's the drawings he did for Model Railroader and Railroad Model Craftsman magazines. Or know of the GumStump and Snowshoe layout design from 50+ years ago? Was a member of the BMRC, Boulder Model Railroad Club. Also a volunteer at the CRRM library. Recieved club newsletter update, with a note from Chucks daughter, stating he passed away on Saturday, May 7. He will be missed. Condolences to the family.
He did quite a few modelling articles in Railroad Model Craftsman over the years. Never did meet him but know the name. Sad news to say the least
Thanks for the post Keith -- I didn't know. Chuck Yungkurth was one of the leading luminaries in eastern PA history and as an Anthracite roads fan, I know his name well. I think he grew up in Scranton.
The very first Railroad Model Craftsman, I purchased, February 1962, or so, contained an article by Chuck Yungkurth. I think it was about the Bellefonte and Snowshoe Branch of the PRR. I enjoyed the article, and became a fan of his articles. Sad to learn of his passing.
Yes , I too know the name, I met him and a few others at a few model railroad trade shows and had a nice chat with him " Chuck Yungkurth" and the others on how the hobby has developed throughout the years. Sad to here of Chuck Y's passing .. Tom
